Please attend this informative presentation on identity theft. Attendees will cover the basics of identity theft as well as learn how they can reduce their risk of becoming victims. Presentations will be made by Daniel Mitsunaga of US First Credit Union, Joanne McNabb, of the California Office of Privacy Protection and Linda Masoli of Pre Paid Legal Services.
Participants can expect to discuss what identity theft is and why it is increasing, as well as the four things you can do to protect yourself. The presenters will cover how to protect your mail, your computer, credit cards versus debit cards and security freeze.
A large part of the presentation will also discuss how businesses can reduce company and employee liability including the following:
- The new ID theft laws
- How they affect your company and employees
- If Red Flag Rules apply to you and your business
- How to create a culture of security
- No cost solutions for your company
Attendees will receive copies of the FTC publication, Protecting Personal Information: A Guide for Businesses. Registration is $15 for Chamber members and $25 for prospective members. Attendees are invited to bring their own lunch.
