Supervisor Mar was elected in November 2008 to represent the Richmond District. Prior to his appointment, Supervisor Mar served as a Commissioner and was the President of the San Francisco Board of Education.
In 2011, Supervisor Mar supported the Film Rebate Program, Redevelopment of Treasure Island and the Mid-Market Payroll Tax Credit. Supervisor Mar also supported Pension Reform and the Extension of the Biotech Tax Credit.
Supervisor Mar is the Chair of the Land Use and Economic Development Committee and a member of the Public Safety Committee.
